The Care
Quality Commission, Voluntary Schemes and the New Regulatory
Landscape
National seminar on
regulation and accreditation in health and social care.
This one day seminar,
held jointly by the UK Accreditation Forum and the Royal Society
of Medicine (RSM) Quality Section will take place on Tuesday
17 November 2009, at the RSM.
With the changes coming
about in regulation and licensing it is timely for the value and
contribution of accreditation schemes to improving the quality
of health and social care services is recognised. At a number
of consultation meetings and seminars, UKAF has made the point
that regulatory agencies need to focus on ensuring that baseline
quality and safety standards are met, whilst accreditation is
about encouraging continuous quality improvement and
implementing best practice. This seminar will explore the
relationship between the regulation, licensing role and
voluntary quality schemes. Will the new landscape provide space
for organisations to pursue the quality improvement initiatives
that will be most beneficial to them and support their
aspirations for service development?
The sessions will
explore the changing face of regulation across health and social
care, the development of new national quality standards by NICE
and the role of voluntary quality improvement schemes, using
accreditation and peer review methodology. UKAF will put the
case for CQC endorsement and recognition of accreditation
awards.
This seminar is a ‘must
attend’ event for all those tasked with ensuring compliance with
regulatory requirements and those working to improve quality of
services in health and social care.
