Objectives

To Improve the Quality of Lives for People with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder

Scope and focus of programme

A service development tool to enable establishments to better meet the needs of the people they cater for who have an Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

Autism Accreditation is a Peer Review System operating at ‘Arms Length’ from The National Autistic Society.

The focus of the programme being continuous review and service development for establishments registered in the scheme. Autism Accreditation is a UK wide service, with additional services registered in Europe.

Standards

Core Standards (Required to be met by all Services) + at least one of the following:

  • Pre-Schools

  • Play Schemes

  • Day Schools

  • Residential Schools

  • Educational Outreach Services

  • Further Education  & Colleges

  • Adult Day Services

  • Adult Residential Services

  • Community Outreach Services

  • Adult Secure Accommodation

  • Supported Living Schemes

  • Elderly Services

  • Short Break & Respite Services

  • Employment Services

Standards of Excellence – in order to be eligible to apply to be accredited under the separate Standards of Excellence an establishment must be at plaque status, i.e. Accredited three times consecutively and be sponsored by their Accreditation Advisor and Approved by an Accreditation Panel. There are separate Standards of Excellence for all of the above standards.
